It's PEEVE Time!!!

I hate to say this, actually I don't bc it's the whole truth - I loathe some lil' things. Seeing this pic this morning just set me off. WHY, I ask...

For the Nth time, Jess Alba has gone from Brunette to Blondie. Why don't you stick with what mother nurture/nature gave you. Trust me, she knows best. 100% dark brunettes should not go the blonde root - it just looks brassy and totally un-classy. What's your take? Yay or nay?

Other lil' pet peevies that are under my skin as of late (all language related):

-When people say, "Anywho!" ahhhh - make the nails on the chalkboard STOP!
-Profanity - droppin' the F bomb at any age doesn't make you younger/older depending on the way you look at it
-When people say, "You know what?" - how am i supposed to know when you haven't even told me yet?

What's totally awesome though? I looove making up NEW and UNUSED words! It's my latest trend... Say "MONKEY" the next time you want to drop a stupie expletive.

DIY Hair Detox

Crash diets are for CRrrazies!!! But lets be honest for same um... one sec? Every once in a while, we all need a little detox--and that includes our luscious locks. Yes, Miss Miranda Kerr - a Victoria's Secret model 100% totally concurs with the hair detox. Imagine hairdo after do after day after day...the ends might be screamin' "I'm turnin' into a bleepin' broom!" So how do you restore the bouncy flouncy back to your hair? Whip this lil' magic up in your very own kitchen!!

Kerr's Recipe in her own words:

"I take one tablespoon of olive oil and a small squeeze of lemon, and put it on my hair before bed," Kerr says. "It's an amazing natural hair treatment for dry ends!"

Um...hi. A lil' tid-bitty: When getting this beauty sleep, don't rest your head on your fave pillowcase; this blend can leave a little fruity-smelling residue behind. May I even suggest a showercap? ;)

Cute Hair is a Choice - Not a Chore!

This is not a lesson in how to achieve Rainbow Bright's gorg locks! NA! I'm talkin' 'bout how to style your mane, girlies! I'm fillin' you in on my top secrets of the trade! My girlies at work have squeezed it out of me and begged me to share it with all of my eBff's! So here it is. I'm promising you - that if you follow this hair regiment, your lovely locks'll be sayin' "Ooo, la, la!" Here me out and take notes...

The Wash:

-Lather up your shampoo in your hands before massaging it into your hair. WHY? If you put it your hands, directly put it into your hair, and THEN lather...you're creating unnecessary frizz, breakage, and added build-up. The water can't wash away the shampoo when it's in such a concentrated form [thus your hair getting greazzzy-grimy sooner]. Save yourself and your hair some work...Lather it in your hands 1st!

-You're totally allowed to enjoy a warm shower - up until the conditioner part. Rinse your conditioner out with cold water. It seals the hair follicle creating shine and less frizzage!

After The Wash:

-Run a comb/brush through your mane, upside down, from end to roots. Ring out the excess water. Wrap a towel around it and let it rest on top of your noggin'. CAUTION: DO NOT FALL TO THE TEMPTATION TO RUB DRY!!! This is a serious hair fo-pah! By doing so, you're adding extra frizzage and breakage! Na, na, NO! Behave already!

The Blow Dry:

-Remove the towel upside down. Whhaaat? Yes, bend over. Look at your cute lil' toesies for the next 7-10 minutes and try not to pass out.

-DO NOT USE A BRUSH to smooth out the kinks from the towel. Just leave it be, sista!

-Blow completely dry on high, hot, heat... ONLY USING FINGERS if moving the hair around is necessary.

-Once COMPLETELY dry [don't cheat, or your hair will be flat] flip your hair back. You should now be standing right side up and your mane will be wildness! This is a good sign. If you're not sportin' the KISS RoCkEr look-a-like DO, then you've obviously broken one of the crucial rules! I said...TAKE NOTES! Listen already!

-Um...hi. So next. You're right-side up and the hair is completely dry and completely crazy! Turn your blow dryer to the coldest setting on high. Use your fingers to pull your hair straight up towards the ceiling while concentrating the cold air at the roots. Got the pic? Lifting the hair, while blasting the roots with "cold shots". Do this all over the crown and sides of your head.

-Your hair should now be even WiLdEr!!! RAWR!! You're doin' it right...TRUST ME!

-Let your hair rest while you do your make-up. DON'T BRUSH. DON'T FINGER SMOOTH IT. NOTHING! Leave it be! We'll fix her soon enough and you'll be lookin' fab!

The Iron(s):

-If you flat iron or curl, here's the low-down. Pretend like you're pullin' your hair back into a pony. Leave a little of the underneath and flat iron it. Start about 2 inches away from the roots. By flat-ironing at the base of the roots, you're deflating all of your hard work! Now, that is just plain UBSURRRD!

-Work your way up, letting more hair down each time. You should end up with a lil' pony tail just for the crown.

-Now The Crown:Start from the back and work to the front [forehead]. I take small sections and flat-iron straight up towards the ceiling [remember, we're not gettin' the bad boy iron anywhere near the roots]. Don't worry about your "part". This comes later. You're working from the back, forward, straight up the center [Have I lost you? Maybe a YouTube would be helpful?]...

The Spray:

Teasing, is SOOO 80's and totally 2009! Um...huh? Yeah, I said it. I tease...and so will you in 3 sections: crown, right side, & left side. Take the back section of your crown and slightly tease using a normal brush. NO FINE TOOTH COMBS ALLOWED!

-Lightly spray at the roots. BIG,SEXY,HAIR makes a Killa Hairspray! It's magic and big, and obviously sexy

-Repeat the "light" teasing on the left and right sides of your crown. Again, spraying at the roots afterwards.

-Use the "cold shots" using the blow dryer at the roots to ensure the spray is dry.

The Part:

-Using a comb is so 40 years UGO! Ew...OLD! We use fingers. Again, working from the back forehead-ward! We're not creating a clean line, unless doing what my loverbuns calls, "the booty crack" straight up the center. This is a trend...so maybe I'll make this one exception to bust out the Old-School comb, just this one time! But for side parts - we use the fingers on BOTH hands! With one hand on each side of the location of the desire part, pretend you're digging for buried treasure by brushing hair out of the way. It will create a more natural look. Turning the finger into a pointer is not the objective...might as well bust out the comb! Buried treasure...is the key!

-Use a light all-over-go-around with the spray. If you experiment with keeping your fingers in your roots while you spray, you'll create depth and "pieciness".

You should now look so gorgeous that your mirror gets jealous!

PSSST! Repeat this process on your Wash Day, which is every 5 days? EEEK! Whhhaaat? Yeah, I wash my hair every 5 days and it's healthier and cleaner than ever. This is a post for lata gata! Start with the basics...

Baby Products Are For Grown Babies Too!

I've been thinking lately about the more "natural" ways in life [i.e. organic food, green friendly homes, clean water, etc]. It may seem like a trend but there's truth to it. Have you ever wondered what the ingredients are in your make-up and beauty products? Yeah, stuff so strong and artificial it'll clean an oven. Research has shown that some of the chemicals found in most of our everyday beauty essentials cause cancer! Hey, open up jar of cucumber melon body balm and lather on the cancer! Sick! Are we all dying to look good, literally? This stuff can give me the creepers. There's no way to avoid it all [we can't buy 100% organic everything all the time] but could we be helping ourselves out by going back to baby basics? I've used 'em and they work great if not better than my "grown-up" girl versions. The ingredient list is shorter and contains more known ingredients. If you'd put it on a baby - heck, put it on yourself!

Here are some baby brands that do the trick for us grown-up girls:
-Pamper's Sensitive Baby Wipes: use 'em to remove makeup. They're hypoallergenic, fragrance free, and a whole lot cheaper than other facial wipes [only 7 cents per wipe]. So are you going to try the wipe's good enough for your baby's bum?

-Big Brave Boo-Boo Balm: use it for your driest of dry skin or in place of those hand sanitizer gels. it'll do the trick and quick because it has coconut oil, antibacterial/fungal/viral ingredients.

-Classic Johson's Baby Shampoo: i used to use this stuff in high school and it worked great! i can't believe i've forgotten about this find. it smells amazing and works great too!

-My Personal Fav, Burt's Bees Baby Powder: it does the trick inbetween washing my hair. it's talc free, smells great, and gives my hair extra body! i love all burt's bees products. they are the closest thing to "safe" products and they smell so yummy! grab some for your lil' baby bee too!

Do you have a baby product that's not only for baby, but you too?
